The Parents Association of the three primary schools in Calasparra has protested against the decision to change primary school text books, particularly at Los Molinos and Las Pedreras, which has major cost implications for cash strapped parents.
The Association has raised its concerns with the three primary school boards and is demanding that the change of text books is “progressive” due to the high costs of the new books.
The Head of the local Education Department has called a meeting of the Municipal Schools Committee in response to the protest, however, only one of the seven parents´representatives will be able to attend.
According to the Association the decision to change the text books “all at once” shows a complete disregard for the current difficult financial situation of most of the parents and demonstrates that the decision makers are “out of touch with reality.”
