A packed house in the Municipal Auditorium on Saturday night commanded three encores from the pianist, baritone and soprano and gave them two standing ovations.
The daughter of the late Monserrat Caballé, soprano Monserrat Martí Caballé did not disappoint but delighted her audience as she performed works from Donizetti, Rossino, Mozart, Verdi and Obradors during the first half of the concert.
Accompanied by the magnificent pianist, Antoniio Lopez Serrano, and the accomplished baritone, Luis Santana, the second half was dedicated to the zarzuela (operetta) with works from composers Manuel de Falla, Penella, Gerónimo Giménez, José Serrano and Moreno Torroba, which included the regional anthem of Murcia.
