“Let´s hope this year is the best of the 22 Rice Fiestas despite the crisis,” declared the Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro at the official presentation of the six bull fights which form the core of the festivities in September.
The Mayor was accompanied by the co-owner of the Caverina Bull Ring, Joaquín Caballero, and the new commercial manager, Pepe Amilburu.
This year, as in the previous two years, there will be six bullfights and entrance prices will be maintained at the same level. The fiestas start on September 3.
Pepe Amilburu took over the commercial management of the Calasparra Bull Ring last week after the former manager Jan Reverte resigned following an avalanche of complaints when the traditional Los Santos bull fight was cancelled at the last minute. Pepe Amilburu was formerly the manager of the Caverina but resigned in 2010 in mysterious circumstances.
