NO QUARANTINE FOR MILD AND ASYMPTOMATIC COVID CASES

The Ministry of Health has announced the end of obligatory quarantine for mild and asymptomatic cases of Covid-19.
Obligatory diagnostic testing for those with suspected Covid-19 will also be restricted to serious cases, vulnerable people (aged 60 or over, immune depressed and pregnant women) and in vulnerable environments (hospitals, medical centres etc).
Healthy people and under 60’s, with mild symptoms or who are asymptomatic, no longer need to isolate.
The Government recognises that the worst of the Covid epidemic is over and reduces the virus to the status of  “just another illness.”
As the indicators demonstrate Covid levels is “low risk,” with less than five percent of patients in hospital and less than 10 percent in intensive care, only serious cases need to be notified.
It is recommended that those who have mild symptoms follow preventative measures such as using masks and avoiding contact with vulnerable people.
This new strategy will continue so long as there is no significant change in the risk levels or any change in the epidemiological situation which require a change in response.
