NO BONFIRES OR BAREBECUES FROM MAY 1 DUE TO RISK OF FOREST FIRES

The Director General of the Environment has brought forward the date for the prohibition of burning agricultural and forest waste, barbecues or open fires near to mountain areas to May.
The prohibition period lasts until September 30.
The measure, announced on April 28, is of a temporary nature and affects all authorizations for burning agricultural or forest waste.
Also suspended are barbecues in rereational areas using vegetable fuel or gas as well as fireworks in forest areas or within 400 metres of those areas.
The Director General has also announced an official drought in the south east peninsular for the first half of the year.
Last autumn was dry, very dry although the winter was normal and dry. However this spring has been extremely dry and this has significantly increased the risk of forest fires and the need for extreme precaution.
