There are a million ways to scam us, or so it seems, and a Nexonr reader warns us there is a new international scam involving voice recognition information.
This is how it goes: someone phones you up and calls you by your name. They give you their name and “password” and ask for yours. Any trick to make you say “yes.”
Allegedly, your “yes” is then recorded and can be used with voice recognition technology to open accounts, transfer money etc.
The advice is to avoid answering with a simple “yes” when talking to strangers, instead answering questions with sentences: “ I can hear you perfectly/ that is correct/ etc.” and never, under any circumstances give personal data over the phone.
