As the former Temporary Protection for the Unemployed, in the form of 425 euros monthly, ends (from February 14), a new payment of 400 euros has been introduced and is available to existing claimants for a period not exceeding six months.
This payment is expected to been fit some 80,000 long term unemployed who have exhausted their rights to Statutory Unemployment Benefit. The new payment is similar to a short term Income Support.
Claimants must agree to undergo an “individual itinerary and training” in order to qualify for the benefit.
Anyone who was previously claiming the TPU, mentioned in the first paragraph, qualifies for the new payment.
