The regional government has admitted that the new airport at Corvera will not be open for business by this summer after all.
The delay has been blamed on a list of technical requirements which the make it “practically impossible” for the runways to debut in the summer season.
The delay coincides with the announcement of a programme of summer flights from San Javier by AENA, the airport authority.
Summer flights from San Javier will include 22 destinations with 15 connections to the UK, four with Norway, one with Dublin and one with Brussels. The companies include Air Nostrum, BmiBaby, EasyJet, Jetair Fly, Jet2.com, Ryanair and Norwegian Air.
