NEW LAW WILL BAN SMOKING ON BAR TERRACES AND BEACHES

The Council of Ministers has approved the project of the new Smoking Law in Spain that will now begin its journey through the Spanish Parliament where it needs a majority vote in order to take effect.
The new proposals are:
*Expanding spaces without smoke to terraces at bars and restaurants; beaches; public and community swimming pools; sports installations; open air concerts and events; and national parks.
Prohibits the consumption of tobacco products by minors not just the sale or provision.
Electronic cigarettes and any tobacco products are subject to the same prohibition as in the first clause.*
The sale of products related to tobacco remains limited to specialist shops and no external publiciity is permitted.
The aim of the law is to increase space without smoke, reinforce in the protection of minors, and adapt the legislation to the new tobacco products.
Some 140 people died of tobacco related conditions everyday in Spain totalling 50,000 to 54,000 tobacco related deaths every year.
