NATIONAL PROTEST MOVEMENT 15M COMES TO CALASPARRA TOMORROW

The apolitical citizens protest movement 15M, (the name comes from a spontaneous protest in the Plaza del Sol Madrid on May 15th ) is spreading across Spain and has now reached Calasparra.
The second assembly of the movement, the first was held in the Cupola in July, will be held tomorrow night, Thursday August 4, at 9pm in the Cúpula Square.
The movement began on May 15 this year when 100 “indignados” (indignant people) gathered in the Plaza del Sol. The members of this pacific protest were removed by force by the police but the next day more than a thousand protestors took over the square. The movement 15M was born that day: young people, families, immigrants and many others who simply do not accept the way things are today in Spain.
The movement is neither Left nor Right and has no affiliation to any political party. Their manifesto is available on the Internet but generally they are protesting against the level of corruption, the power of the banks (actively obstructing possession proceedings), the voting system etc. They claim the current politicians do not represent them or their views.
A local spokesperson says: “We don´t agree with the current political situation nationally nor here in Calasparra. We will fight for change nationally and locally.”
Assemblies are also being held in Cieza, Moratella, Caravaca, Cehegin and many other parts of the region.
Central Government in Spain has already begun to listen to what is a massive citizens protest and there are indications their views will be considered on internal policy issues.
