The Calasparra Ornithological Society will host the national Song Birds Championships on May 20 on the Athletics Track behind the industrial estate.
Entrance to the event, organized by the local club in collaboration with the Town Hall, is free.
The Saturday before the event more than 400 participants with some 600 song birds are expected to arrive. There will be activities throughout the day.
The championships begin at 9am on Sunday when the event will open to the public.
