According to the regional Health Authority 23 of the 2,174 new cases of Covid-19 diagnosed in the past 24 hours were in Calasparra.
The number of contagions recorded in the region yesterday, a fiesta day, is more than half the number of the 5,520 cases registered the day before, but less tests were carried out.
Tragically, five more people in the Murcia region have lost their lives to the virus, three men and two women, ages 64, 76, 63, 82 and 80 years, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,850.
There are 375 Covid cases in the region´s hospitals and 76 of these are in intensive care.
The total number of active cases in the region registered at midnight on January 6 was 23,346.
