Hotels, travel agencies and car hire companies are obliged by law from today, Tuesday December 3, to apoply a new register of tourists providing up to 42 data for every guest/client which they must keep on file for three years.
Among the new data required is the inscription of minors, contact data and the method of payment for the service. c
From today hotels and accomodation suppliers must add the data of all minors and their parental relation. Children of 14 years and above must provide their DNI document (or passport).
As well as the data on the documentation (DNI Passport etc) receptionists must ask for the home address, telephone numbers, and email address. It will also be necessary to provide all details of credit card payments including the type of card, card number, IBAN of bank account, the expiry date and the amount paid.
The Tourist Industry is threatening to begin a legal challenege against the measure which they claim is an intrusion into client privacy and will cause delays and queues at reception.
However, the Secretary of State defends the Real Decree 933/2021 which, he says, will replace a norm which is «competely obsolete.»
