The Government
Delegate and ex Mayor of Calasparra, has ordered the reinforcement of police
controls to prevent people travelling to second homes and tourist locations.
José Vélez insists there will be heavy sanctions for those travelling without a
reason permitted by the State of Alarm.
In the Murcia region on March 26, 25,139 control were carried out, resulting in
19 detentions; 5,352 people charged; and 6,195 vehicles intercepted..
Vélez has reminded citizens that it is vital to
continue to comply with the regulations imposed by the State of Alarm and avoid
travelling to second home or to make any unjustifiable journeys. To this end,
Velez has reinforced controls on traffic movements carried out by the local police
and the Guardia Civil.
Velez says people who make these unjustifiable journeys are putting at risk their
own health and that of others.
“We are not going to allow this to continue to happen and I have given
instructions to reinforce controls and impose heavy fines on those who break
the rules,” he said.
Velez also took the opportunity to thank the majority of residents in the
Murcia region who are making an enormous effort and a great sacrifice as well
as the health staff and everyone who guarantees services to the public during
this State of Alarm.
