Calasparra can expect temperatures as high as 46C over the next three days, the regional Met Office has warned.
Temperatures will begin to rise tomorrow but on Sunday they are likely to reach between 35 and 40C.
Monday will be even hotter with a possible maximum of 46C.
The Met Office advises to stay out of the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
In Calasparra any time after 12 midday is very hot but temperatures tend to continue to rise until 5pm.
On Tuesday the heatwave should abate with temperatures beginning to fall.
Readers are advised these are extremely high temperatures and the possibility of sun stroke or heatstroke is very real.
Working outside should be avoided.
It is advisable to close blinds/curtains and windows to stop the hot air entering your homes and use fans or air conditioning.
Stay inside in the cool whenever possible.
Avoid heavy meals and alcohol which tend to increase the body temperature.
Drink lots of cold water and eat light meals.
If you have to go out, which you definitely should not do during the hottest hours, wear loose, light clothing, sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen.
Do not leave your pets in your car, even with the windows open. Damp them down with a hose or in a cold bath.
Please be very careful over the next few days. This is exceptional heat and is extremely dangerous.
If you suffer from heatstroke or sunstroke call 112 emergencies immediately.
