Teresa Garcia, Mayoress of Calasparra, has announced that she will not stand for election in the Municipal Elections 2027 but will continue until the last day to serve Calasparra with dedication, energy and commitment.
In an emotional video on Facebook the Mayoress highlights personal reasons for her decision.
She says «I have always believed in positive politics but I have seen debate finish in insults and personal attacks. People, close to me, who have not wanted to stand in the front line, have been the suject of attacks and insults: my family, my friends.»
Teresa Garcia says serving Calasparra as Mayoress has been the greatest honour of her life and she has always tried to give the best of herself to the role.
The Mayoress says although she is proud of the time and commitment she has dedicated to Calasparra now is a time to dedicate more time to her family .
Finally, she says, she is proud of the faith the Socialist Party has placed in her and is confident the party will go on to win the elections and open a new era for Calasparra.
