MAYOR SOLVES POWER CUTS IN LOCAL SCHOOL.

The Mayor has announced a solution to the frequent power cuts, which have been disrupting local schools, especially the Pedreras and Esperanza Primary Schools.
Speaking on Radio Calasparra, José Vélez said: «We have found a temporary solution this week and expect a permanent solution within a month”.
The Mayor who says he is “confident there will be no more power cuts from now on” said the situation had been resolved due to the rapid intervention of Ibredrola.
He went on to clarify that although local schools are a regional responsibility,following a meeting with the Director GeneraL of Education Centres the Town Hall had committed to improve the electrical installations in order to avoid further power cuts. In exchange the Department of Education had agreed to carry out improvement works worth 50,000 euros in every education centre in Calasparra.
“We have kept our part of the bargain,” said the Mayor, “Now we are waiting for the Department to complete their part quickly.
Local schools have suffered major disruption with as many as 13 power cuts in one day, which according to the worst affected, the Esperanza and Pedreras Primary Schools, have affected classes and caused damage.
The schools reported the problem in writing on November 30, 2017 and then again on January 9 this year. All together four written complaints were sent to the Department of Education.
Sources at the primary school claim their pupils have been seriously affected by the power cuts and they lament it has taken so long to resolve the situation.
They confirmed there have been no power cuts this week.
