MAXIMUM ALERT AND EMERGENCY STATUS LEVEL 1 IN MURCIA REGION

Roads closed including local roads, all schools in the region closed, Emergency Level 1 declared for Flooding and an Orange Weather Warning from AEMET (the Met Office), the maximum level, at 5am this morning for persistent torrential rain showers.
This is the picture as Calasparra woke up this morning after a night when 120 litres fell in 12 hours, 30 litres per sq metre in an hour.
Many local roads are impassable and many are cut off. This is the latest list:
-Calle Los Santos
– Carretera de los Donates (Camino de la Torrecica) from the Daya to the Hoya de Sax and all accesses from this part of the river.
– Carretera de la Marquesa at the Hoya de Sax
– Carretera de los Milicianos at the Marines.
– Camino de las Arreturas. From the bridge on the road to Petrogaz.
– Carretera del pozuelo at the Hoya de Sax.
– Carretera del Olivarejo (lower Sanctury Road), at the point of the footbridge to the Canoe Club.

The Carnival Parade has been cancelled on Saturday March 8.
AEMET warns against any travel due to flash flooding.
