Local police manning one of the daily check points on the municipal perimeter stopped a driver who had no justifiable reason for leaving the town and discovered a kilo and a half of marijuana hidden in his vehicle.
The driver has been charged with a public health offence and has been put at the disposal of magistrates.
The vehicles was stopped by the local police this morning, Saturday, at one of the routine checkpoints on the edge of the municipal area. The driver became nervous when asked for his documentation which aroused the suspicions of the police officers.
During a search the marijuana was found hidden in the vehicle.
