A legal decision has removed the final obstacle preventing the regional government putting the managment of the new aiport at Corvera out to tender and it could be open by the middle of 2016.
The regional government of Murcia has withdrawn the operating licence for the airport from Aeromur, the former concessionary, following a decision by the Judicial Advisor of Murcia declaring that the authorization was conceded in an irregular manner.
The fact that Aeromur held the authorization to operate has made it difficult for the regional government to put the management of the airport out to tender.
According to oficial sources, the withdrawal of the authorization is one of the requirements for opening the airport.
The same sources confirm that the aiport could be open by the middle of next year.
