From today June 1 the danger of forest fires due to the high temperatures is very high.
As every year from today it is illegal to light any fires and no «burn» licences will be issued until the hot summer days are over.
The Plan Informur agency, responsible for the detection and extinction of forest fires, has announced that the risk is «extreme» and has appealed to the publiv not to light fires and to call 112 immediately if they see any signs of fire.
According to the agency most fires are avoidable and this year, after the heavy rain, the grass and scrub in the Sierras around Calasparra has grown wild and tall. This makes our area particularly vulnerable to another devastating fire.
Please take care with cigarette ends when walking or driving and don´t light uncovered barbecues or fires for cooking in the open air where sparks or burning material could ignite the countryside.
