The driver of a forty ton lorry travelling from Cehegin to Italy was arrested in Calasparra by the Guardia Civil after the drtier was breathalysed and found to be seven times over the alcohol/blood limit.
The driver, aged 54 years from Cehegin, was arrested on December 6 on the RM-714 Jumilla to Caravaca road after the Guardia Civil received reports of a heavy goods vehicle zig zagging across the road. The vehicle was stopped at the 42 kilometre mark and breathalysed. He appeared before magistrates in Caravaca and his case will be heard within 15 days.
Due to the quantity of alcohol in the driver´s system the vehicle was immobilized immediately until another driver from the same company was available to take charge of it.
The Guardia Civil also reported that the vehicle was using a Class B Diesel, popularly known as “red diesel” among other infractions.
