Breathalyser tests and drug
controls for drivers will also be carried out by the local police after a
special theory and practical training session with the Guardia Civil.
Some 40% of drivers involved in road accidents prove positive for alcohol or
drugs.
The training course was run by the regional headquarters of the Traffic Department
of the Guardia Civil with the Fiscal for Road Safety, the Institute of Legal
Medicine of Murcia, and a practical training session with Traffic of the
Guardia Civil, whereby officers carried out roadside testing.
Local police officers are now fully trained in handling testing equipment and
are qualified to carry out road side testing.
The aim of the course is to improve prevention and safety for drivers and pedestrians
and cut road accidents in Calasparra.
