Local police officers have assisted in the birth of a baby in Calasparra, early Monday morning, after finding a female resident in labour and at the point of giving birth.
It was around 5.20am when police officers on routine patrol in central Calasparra found a vehicle parked in the middle of the road with the lights on.
When they approached the car they could hear the cries of a woman coming from a house nearby. At that moment someone called for help from the window saying his wife was in labour.
The officers helped with sheets and blankets and laid the woman down on the floor of the lounge. As the baby´s head was already visible they followed advice from the emergency services on 112 and the instructions of a doctor and helped in a successful birth.
When the ambulance arrived mother and baby were already doing well and were transferred to the medical centre.
