There is no better way to celebrate the International Day of the Consumer than
to congratulate the municipal Consumer Rights Office for gaining 77,844.40
euros in refunds for clients.
Some 1,580 clients consulted the Consumer Rights Office this year: 245 making
claims and nine for arbitration.
Complaints regarding gas top the list, increasing to 20.18%, and electricity
12.02%.
Other consultations were telephone: 10.02%; insurance:7.79%; banks:6.32%;
second hand cars: 6.24%; electrical appliances and furniture: 3.32%; air travel
and buses: 3.768%; property purchases and rentals:4.42%; public and private
healthcare:3.78%; water: 1.26%; internet: 1.89%.
Mediation by the Consumer Rights Office has resulted the high level of refunds
and includes failure to comply or cancel contracts, reparation of vehicles and
electrical appliances under guarantee and penalties for cancelling contracts.
International Consumer Day will be celebrated tomorrow, Friday March 15.
