The fiestas in Calasparra have officially begun!! The celebratory rocket was launched from the balcony of the Town Hall at Monday midday in front of a crowded Plaza de la Corredera.
Earlier in the morning large black blow up bulls were stars of the “chiquenencierro” (encierro for the little ones) (see photo below).
A special Information Point (photo below)for attention and prevention of domestic violence, assault and/or attacks on girls and women has been set up by the Department of Equality and Citizen Security, with the support of the local police and Civil, Protection, under the slogan: “No means No.”
These Information Points are a new addition to most local and regional fiestas in Spain following the gang rape of a teenage girl at San Fermin several years ago.
