The opposition party, the United Left and Greens, will call on the regional government to delay plans which prohibit the exploitation of lands under environmental protection orders to facilitate an extended period of dialogue and information.
Coordinator, Ricardo Garcia, will propose a motion at the next Full Town Hall meeting demanding that the regional government postpone the approval of the new regulations and extend a period of “co-participation and information” for the interested parties.
According to Ricardo Garcia “a month after the publication on December 21 was insufficent time, given that the Christmas holidays fell in the middle of the consulation period.
“However, I must also say that the plan contains many interesting proposals for harmonizing the use of land under EU conservation orders, ZEPA and ZEC: the observation of which are vital to obtain European funding in the future.
“From the ecological point of view it is necessary to introduce the measures which take us on the road towards ecological agriculture and stock breeding and which are included in the Integral Plan for the Management of the Natural Rural Network 2000,” he said.
