Calasparra Railway Station and local rail services may become history and some 100,000 people in North East Murcia left isolated from the rail network.
The closure of rail links is due to the introduction of new high speed services and poses the question: “Is it worth isolating so many residents in order to cut 20 minutes off the journey to Madrid?”
Calasparra Town Hall has renewed efforts to safeguard local services, a move which was unanimously supported by all members of the full Council Meeting last week. Part of the strategy is to seek support from other affected municipal areas for the proposed Dry Port at Calasparra station.
