Calasparra Town Hall, in colaboration with the Gypsy Secretariat Foundation, will mark the International Day of the Gypsy on April 8.
The celebrations will start at 5pm in the Placeta de los Santos and will include workshops, music and dance and the reading of a manifesto.
Since 1990, the International Day of the Gyspy on April 8 has marked the anniversary of the First World Congress Romani/Gypsy in London in 1971.
The gypsy flag, green and blue, simbolizes the sky and the fields, with a red wheel to represent the road and freedom. The hymn “Gelem, gelem” remembers the gypsy victims of the Nazis.
This is an opportunity to celebrate and get to know the culture and the history of the gypsy population.
