An information campaign on the tiger mosquito and other pests was launched today with a stall on the Friday Market.
One of the major disadvantges of living in the one of the hottest driest parts of Spain is the variety of insects that bite, sting and bother our pets.
Here is some information from the stall:
The Tiger Mosquito is an invasive species that can be identified by the white fringes on its dark body and its low flight. It breeds in small amounts of stagnant water and thus prevention in domestic environments is key to avoid its proliferation.
There are some simple ways to avoid its appearance:
Don´t leave recipients with small amounts of water around such as plates under pot plants, buckets, etc.
Empty and renew water frequently
Keep gutters and waste pipes clean
Put a lid on recipients and deposits of water
Regularly change the water for your pets
Avoid puddles when watering plants
This campaign is organised by the Department of Health of CRM with the colaboration of Calasparra Town Hall.
Prevention is key.
Editors Note
