The price of electricity has risen by 80% since last year, diesel by over 45%, petrol by more than 33% and bottled gas by more than 33%.
Inflation in Spain stands at 9.8% so where we spent 1000 euros last year, this year we will spend nearly 100 euros more.
Inflation has also hit our shopping basket: pasta 21.4%; milk 11.7%; rice 10.6%; and tea 4.9%.
Over 200 basic food products cost more now compared to last year and especially badly hit are oil, milk, bread, eggs, meat and cereals.
The prices index indicates that 22 basic products have risen in price by more than 10% since last year.
