Some 70 of the 200 municipal fines for illegal buildings or extensions received by local families have already been resolved satisfactorily, according to a statement issued at a municipal press conference yesterday.
The Fine Notices, issued by the Town Hall and not by the region, are, according to the Mayor and his Deputy, “an opportunity for residents with illegal buildings to regularize them.”
As later this year the Municipal Urban Plan will be approved by the Town Hall, said the Mayor, “this is a chance for residents to legalise their properties and avoid worse problems.”
Residents who have received the notices “do not need a solicitor or an assessor,” according to the Mayor as cases will be considered on an individual basis by the Technical Office at the Town Hall. If the Technical Office can not resolve the problem affected residents should discuss their problem with José Veléz.
In order to speak to José Veléz, who has an office on the first floor on the left as you come up the stairs of the Town Hall, residents should check in the General Office that he is in attendance and then queue outside his office any morning of the week. Non Spanish speakers will require an interpreter.
