Every year people in Calasparra ignore the legislation that makes spaying their dogs compulsary!
Every year people in Calasparra ignore the legislation that makes allowing their dogs to get pregnant illegal.
And every year their answer to an unwanted litter of puppies is to abandon them and, often, the mother as well.
It is completely beyond the comprehension of most people: the irresponsibility and the cruelty.
And, of course, as usual, Dogs Rescue Calasparra volunteers are literally left holding the babies!!
The litters are being found anywhere, simply left to their own devices, defenceless pups tired, frightened, hungry, thirsty and torn away from their mothers.
The lucky ones are found and saved by Dogs Rescue Calasparra but who knows how many are hidden or lost and dying.
These irresponsible dog owners need to be reported to Seprona at the Guardia Civil and we can all play our part.
Remember unless you are a registered breeder it is illegal to breed dogs. So if you see a pregnant dogs it is illegal and more than likely a prelude to an heartless abandon. Report it!!
The law states if you have a female dogs it must be sterilized and males spayed.
In the meantime Dogs Rescue are appealing for help to feed, care for and pay vet’s bills for all the puppies that land up in their care.
