The Met Office has issued an alert for temperatures of more than 40 degrees in the Murcia region on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
The heatwave, which has been affecting most of the Spanish peninsula, is due to arrive here mid week.
Readers are advised to stay out of the sun from midday to early evening and not to work outside. Stay safe by taking light meals, avoiding alcohol, drinking plenty of water and taking a siesta.
It is unusual for temperatures to pass 40 degrees in July, although in the first two weeks of August it is quite common.
