Temperatures are expected to soar into the 40’s on Thursday of this week as a mass of hot air from Africa has raised the heat in 30 capitals in the Murcia region.
The unexpected heatwave in mid May has raised temperatures in Murcia, Molino, Archena, Cieza, Mula and, of course, Calasparra. By Friday the heat will subside slightly and temperatures will hover around top 20´s to early 30´s. By Thursday next week we can expect a drop of up to 10 degrees back to the seasonal norm.
In the meantime the Met Office has issued a warning of forest fires due to the high temperatures in the region.
The General Diurector of Citizen Security and Emergencies advises the public not to light fires in the hills, even in specially prepared areas, and not to smoke in the countryside. However, if you do light a cigarette outside, do not throw cigarette butts on the ground without ensuring they are properly extinguished. Motorists and passengers are warned against throwing cigarette butts out of the car window and advised to use ash trays.
