The number of cases of coronavirus in the Murcia region has fallen during the last two weeks following the peak in cases reported in June:
Health experts put the fall in cases, which has also seen a reduction in cases of flu and bronchitis, down to the hot weather in July.
The incidence of coronavirus began to rise around the middle of May in the region with infection rates much higher than during the winter. On June 30 at least 2,011 people were infected, representing an accumulated weekly incidence of 131 por every 100,000 head of population.
The peak in contagions began to fall within a few days in two weeks had fallen by 26% and 31% respectively, with 990 cases reported on July 22, an accumulated incidence of 64.6). During this week the incidence has fallen by 18% compared to the previous week down to 306 cases per 100,000 head of population.
Anyone who suspects they are infected or has had contact with an infected person is advised to wear a mask, wash their hands regularly and is advised to take special care near vulnerable people. Vulnerable people should wear a mask in crowds, medical centres and hospitals.
