The local Esperanza Primary School is one of seven education centres selected by the Ministry of Education, which will receive the “Healthy Living Seal.”
This quality distinction is a national initiative aimed at promoting health education through physical activity, healthy eating and hygiene.
In order to qualify for the award the schools have developed an education programme of healthy habits, promoting healthy lifestyles through sport and diet and prevention programmes through hygiene.
The centres have also organized projects for pupils to explore information, publicity and social attitudes, which can negatively affect physical, social and psychological development.
Other objectives were to identify situations of risk, such as addictive substances, and prevent eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.
