GROWING INNOVATIONS WILL INCREASE RICE PRODUCTION

Mechanized transplanting, optimising fertilizers and the development of a panel of control will increase rice production in Calasparra by between 25% and reduce fertilizers by 50% next year.
The Head of the regional Department of Agriculture, stockbreeding and fishing, Antonio Luengo, was in Calasparra yesterday to present the project with Grupo ArrozInnova  (the Regulator of the DO; the Virgin de la Esperanza Cooperative, the Campos Virgen de la Esperanza Coop; the two large rice producers in Calasparra).
The Project, called “Innovations agroecologicos for the cultivation of the Bomba rice to improve the profitibility for the farmer” in the rice sector in Calasparra has a budget of 165,565 euros,  63 por cent cofinanced by  the European Agricultural Fund and 37 per cent by the Community.
