The price of a bottle of gas will be fixed; the 20 cent reduction on a litre of petrol extended; and VAT on electricity bills reduced from 10% to five percent.
All these measures will be in effect until the end of December this year.
The cost of travel passes on all state public transport will be reduced by 50% and those for regional public transport by 30% from September 1.
Non-contributory retirement and disability pensions will be increased by 15%.
The increase in the “Ingresso Minimum Vital” (roughly equivalent to Income Support) will be extended until the end of December.
Although not included in this package, the Government will introduce a windfall tax on the “exorbitant profits” of the energy companies in January next year.
