So said, the Head of the local Sports Deparment, Jordi Arce, at the official presentation of the San Sylvester Fun Run on the last day of this year in Calasparra in aid of UNICEF.
The regional coordinator of Unicef Murcia, Carolina Galvañ, also attended the presentation and explained that the object of the fundraiser, “ Gotas por Niger” (Drops for Niger), was to provide drinking water in schools in the poorest countries of the world.
“We will achieve two objectives,” she said, “ protect the health of the students and increase their numbers and ability to stay in school. The difficulties of access to drinking water has a negative effect on health, nutrition and the possibility of development of three million children of school age. Every drop counts!”

The Run on December 31 is 5 kilometres around the town and has a Junior stager and an Adult stage, at 4pm and 5pm respectively.
Entrance fee is 1€ for children and 3€ for adults in aid of UNICEF.
Participants should come to the Plaza de la Corrdederra 30 minutes before the event.
