Easter in Calasparra, declared of Regional Interest to Tourists, was a sell out this year, with crowds for the processions, all board and lodgings full and visits to attractions such as the Puerta Cave and the Descent of the River Segura fully booked.
However, two statues of the saints Veronica and San Juan, were unable to make an appearance due to a lack of volunteers to carry them.
The sun also shone for the restaurants and bars of the town who report “spectacular” business during the Easter break.
Local police, with 20 officers on duty, reported nil incidents despite the record crowds.
