The Calasparrian, Sofía Rodríguez Gómez, has won fifth place at the World Master Weightlifting Championships in Barcelona earlier this month in the category 53 kilos body weight.
Sofia, who is police officer in Gerona, came fifth after lifting 41 kilos and beating the national record.
This is the first official competition for the Calasparrian, who only started weightlifting four months ago. She is trained by Santiago Martínez Ocaña, seven times weightlifting champion in fifth in the 2004 Olympics.
Some 893 weightlifters, male and female, from 40 countries took part in the Championships.
