Did you know those delightful little turtles which sun bathe on the
rocks along the banks of the River Segura and Argos are an invasive species?
The Nature Association of the South East (ANSE) with the help of the
BiioDiversity Foundation, offer volunteers the opportunity for close encounters
with the turtles as part of the project
to control exotic invaders, in this case, turtles.
Volunteers are invited to a work day on Saturday June 22, which aims to control
and study the “Galapagos.”
The turtles captured will be transferred to the Recuperation Centre for Fauna.
The project also aims to raise awareness in the sectors which sell turtles around
their impact on the environment in the form of chats and lectures.
The activity on Saturday will take place on the river Argos from 9am to
12.30pm. Meet at the Curva Restaurant at 9am.
Signing on is free of charge at voluntariadoripisilva@gmail.com.
