The Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, has made an extraordinary appearance in a video on Facebook yesterday to clarify reports of an incident where a resident of Calasparra was allegedly, drugged, assaulted and robbed.
The Mayoress announced that she understood the preoccupation and concern of local residents and that «the moment we saw the reports on social media she informed the Local Police and asked for the cooperation of the Government Delegate at the regional government.»
She confirmed that within minutes of the incident the car containing the three attackers had been identified and investigations were ongoing to identify the occupants.
The three people, one wearing a balaclava, seen in the streets of Calasparra had been reported to the police, she added, and were under investigation.
The Mayoress confirmed that the robbery had been reported to the Local Police but the injuries to the victim reported in social media and on a radio station had not been reported to the Local Police or the Guardia Civil.
She appealed to residents to use «official sources only» to keep informed and «be aware of bulos».
«The security or the residents of Calasparra is the first priority of the Town Hall and the Local Police work all day everyday to keep Calasparra safe. I can assure you Calasparra is a safe, secure place», she added.
