The Huertenica footpath, which starts at the Sanctuary, follows the river and extends through the Bosque Galleria, (river ribbon forest), has been extended to 4.4k and now passes over El Campillo – Los Torrentes, with panoramic views of the Cañaverosa Nature Reserve.
The work on the footpath has been carried out by the regional Department of Tourism, Culure and the Environment and was officially opened yesterday, Wednesday.
You can find the beginning of the path, the Senda de la Huertecica (PR-MU 109), at the Information Point at the Sanctuary.
The first part is a tarmac road leading to the river Moratalla. At about 100 meters you can access the path by crossing a pair of small walls. The path goes through the Bosque Galleria and then passes over a wooden bridge after which a new stretch of the path gives panoramic views of the ribbon forest and the river.
The path is fully signposted and there is a small guide available at the Tourist Office.
