There were 2,556 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in the Murcia region in the last 24 hours, the highest number in a 24 hour period since January 12, 2021 (2071).
Seventeen of the new cases confirmed were in Calasparra.
A massive 44 new in patients were admitted to hospitals in the region, four in intensive care, in the same period.
According to the regional Health Authority 50% of the current 14,640 total active cases are the new variant Omicron.
Further bad news is that five people have died of the virus in the past 24 hours: three men and two women aged 66, 60, 85, 86 and 82 years.
