Yesterday the law which regulates euthanasia became law in Spain and contains guarantees which respond to a wide public demand.
The new law aims to ensure that a patient can decide how they die and confirms their right to be accompanied by their family and supported at all times by a professional medical team.
The legalization and regulation of this rights are compatible with essential principles taken from the Spanish Constitution ie. fundamental rights to life and physical and moral integrity as well as the defence of dignity, liberty and the autonomy of will.
