The Esperanza Primary School is one of three schools in the Murcia region to receive an award for the Antarctica Science Project.
The Project is described as an educational adventure aimed at promoting science and scientific vocations in third and fourth year pupils and was organised by the Seneca Fundation, the Department of Education and Universities in the Murcia Region, the Spanish Polar Committee, the army and the navy.
As a reward the 165 pupils from the three schools were connected to the Oceanographic Investigation Boat (BIO) Hesperides, currently in ther Antartic, for a 45 minute video conference
