They said it wouldn´t but it did: it snowed in Calasparra!!
Only a sprinkling in the town centre in the early hours of this morning but the highest point of the area, San Miguel, is as pretty as picture today, when the clouds clear enough to see it.
The winter storm, “Philomena,” has brought 25 litre of rain to every square metre of Calasparra, according to the Met Office, and chaos on the roads around us.
The Guardia Civil are warning drivers to stay at home unless journeys are absolutely essential and to take supplies and equipment to help in an emergency.
Water, food and blankets as well as a shovel, demisters and, in high areas, snow chains are recommended.
Former Mayor and now Government Delegate, Jose Velez has appealed to drivers to use “extreme caution” and only undertake essential journeys.
