Do you know an elderly or vulnerable neighbor or have a friend who is housebound?
People who are housebound and/or have mobility problems need your help more than ever during these difficult times, especially those who do not speak Spanish and have difficulty taking advantage of the services set up to help them.
Its often easier for you to offer than for them to ask!
Without your help they could be left without food, medicines, gas for heating and cooking………..
Of course, we must all obey the regulations to stay at home but if you are shopping for yourselves you could also shop for others at the same time.
If you are ordering gas you could make a quick phone call to that vulnerable friend to see if they need some delivered.
If you are going to the chemist to pick up medication you could do the same for someone who can´t do it for themselves.
If you can´t do any of the above you could get in touch with the Town Hall and advise them of the name and address of an elderly and/or vulnerable people who may need deliveries of food and/medicine.
If you can´t do any of the above you could phone regularly or even skype someone who spends the whole day alone at home.
Of course, we must all obey the restrictions on movement imposed by the State of Alarm to protect ourselves and others from the virus. No-one is asking you to put yourself in danger.
However, this cannot be a time for selfishness or egotism. A time to ignore those we called friends before the crisis or a vulnerable neighbour who we know normally needs help.
If you don´t do anything else at least pick up the phone!!!
